Production/Manufacturing Operator

Leaman Container, Inc., headquartered in Fort Worth is currently hiring a Production Team Leader to fit in with an established, tenured, successful Fort Worth team. We specialize in corrugated boxes, packaging and shipping products. The position will handle the supervising of plant employees.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure and enforce safety in every person and process at all times
  • Maintain (at a minimum) and constantly improve on quality, efficiencies and production levels set by management
  • Assist in determining quality guidelines
  • Establish high morale within department
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Coordinate with Production Manager and Maintenance Supervisor on any repairs or preventative maintenance needing to be handled in the plant
  • Relay any problems or situations to Production Manager in a timely basis
  • Conduct daily production meetings with production employees
  • Communicate necessary information to other Team Leaders.
  • Communicate at shift change any information with the 2nd shift Team Leader.
  • Expect to switch to 2nd shift when Team Leader on vacation.
  • Implement and support al company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management

  • Attend Safety Meetings as member
  • Assist the other Team Leaders in the absence of the Production Manager with the duties with the duties of the Production Manager.
  • Enforce correction action procedures when applicable after approval from HR and Plant/Operations Manager

Requirements/Experience

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisor and 5 years of corrugated converting experience.
  • Must be able to self-manage, handle multiple tasks simultaneously (excellent time management)
  • Candidate must also have good interpersonal skills to handle conflict management, ability to lead effectively and coach employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write, run and read routine reports and correspondence in Outlook, Excel, company ERP software and any other needed software
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Basic math skills including the use of a tape measure and utilizing fractions (1/16, 1/8 etc.)
  • Forklift certification and 1 year experience
  • Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities
  • Ability to work overtime when needed, including some weekends
  • Demonstrate accuracy and detailed work
  • Attendance and punctuality are both essential functions of this position
  • Ability to run all pieces of equipment
  • Physical Demands
    • Must be able to lift and move 50-100 lbs
    • Must be able to work in loud, hot/cold environment
    • Must be able to stand, walk, use hands/fingers
    • Must use close, distance and color vision
    • Must be able to work in non-climate controlled warehouse

Customer Service and Purchasing Assistant

Leaman Container, Inc., headquartered in Fort Worth is currently hiring a Customer Service and Purchasing Assistant. We specialize in corrugated boxes, packaging and shipping products. This position will be responsible for customer service support to the sales department and our customers and support to the purchasing dept.

Responsibilities

  • Prompt, efficient and courteous customer service with customers and vendors
  • Receive, process and monitor progress of customer orders to align with the overall business strategy of the facility
  • Communication during order entry to plant and or sales management of discrepancies in pricing below guidelines of key financialmetrics
  • Expediting order changes and negotiating those changes with customers
  • Expediting flow of information regarding specifications, orders and customer requirements to manufacturing
  • Enter orders and prepare costs for repeat and new items consistent with plant booking system
  • Apprise customers of order status as appropriate
  • Ensure accuracy of files by maintaining up-to-date specification and pricing files
  • Maintain price quote system and credibility (integrity)
  • Review customer orders for completeness and accuracy; expedite flow of new item information
  • Handle customer complaints and solicit feedback
  • Enhance customer relationships by maintaining specific call patterns
  • Communicate with the salespeople on a regular basis regarding activities within their respective accounts
  • Track finished goods inventory where appropriate
  • Enter purchase orders for raw material and inventory items via EDI and email
  • Lookup purchase order status, receive purchase orders
  • Reconcile receipt transaction to PO receipt
  • Print Factory Master and prepare shop packets
  • Print Load Tags (for production and non-production items)
  • Cycle Counting and Reconciling of physical inventory
  • Quality card setup and daily assurance of quality checks on PO receipts
  • Processing inventory transactions for kits
  • Handle incoming phone calls and assist as backup for receptionist

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel required.
  • 1 year of college or 1 year of customer relations/service experience preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and courteous, professional communications with customers and team members
  • The ability to perform math functions including work with fractions, manipulating and recording figures to provide accurate quantities
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively and work in a fast paced environment with competing priorities and demanding customer base
  • Able to remain flexible and adapt to the situation and provide either leadership or follow instructions and work independently
  • Enthusiastic, customer focused, self-motivated, innovative and assertive
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs
  • Above average spelling and grammar
  • Pre-employment screening required – drug screen, Excel, math and written communication

Compensation

  • This position is an hourly position with benefits, holiday pay, vacation and 401k. This is a professional position that rewards dedication, loyalty and hard work.
  • Starting Pay Rate $13 per hour
